Americans’ reliance on government support is soaring, driven by programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
That support is especially critical in economically stressed communities throughout the U.S., many of which lean Republican and are concentrated in swing states crucial in deciding the presidential election. Neither party has much incentive to dial back the spending.
By 2022, 53%--more than half of all U.S counties--drew at least a quarter of their income from government aid.

Syria’s state news agency, SANA, cited a military source Tuesday as saying that Israel had launched three rockets that targeted a residential and commercial building in the Mezzeh district of Damascus, a highly fortified neighborhood that houses foreign embassies and security buildings, killing seven civilians, including women and children.

Add two-factor authentication to any financial or other highly private accounts.
Realistically, that might protect you from two Harvard students who hacked together a solution. But it’s probably not going to do much against large organizations or nations that have a strong interest in knowing far too much about each one of us in public.
